College football fans erupt over ESPN blackout on YouTube TV

Week 10 in college football is at stake for college football fans across the country following a failure by Google and Disney to reach an agreement that would keep ESPN’s family of networks on the service going forward.

Google and Disney had a deadline of midnight on Thursday to reach an agreement to avoid blackouts on ABC and ESPN’s family of networks. The two parties were unable to reach an agreement, causing Disney’s channels to no longer be available on YouTube TV. This means that games like Vanderbilt at Texas, Georgia vs. Florida, South Carolina at Ole Miss, and Oklahoma at Tennessee won’t be available on YouTube TV this weekend.

He contract dispute has caused outrage from college football fans who rely on YouTube TV to view these networks. Many have taken to X to voice their disappointment with Google and Disney.

Youtube TV and ESPN fighting in the latest round of 'whoever wins, you lose'.Fun times as a consumer.

YouTube TV always telling me what channels I’m about to lose. Never what channels I’m about to gain.

I really enjoy YouTube TV during football season because I prefer their interface, but I ONLY SUBSCRIBE TO WATCH SPORTS & NOTHING ELSE. If it doesn't have ESPN by Saturday at noon I will switch and never go back. And no I'm not going to any ESPN service because it feels like…

You have less than 24 hours. If this is not resolved by 3 hours before college kickoff tomorrow, you will have an unprecedented stampede of cancellations. Each being a lost revenue stream *and* a person who will actively discourage others from signing up for your product.

    — Rod Dillman (@RSDillman) October 31, 2025

ESPN is trying to make us think this is YouTube TV’s fault, when they’re actually just trying to add new subscribers to their new stand alone DTC app. Unbelievable. Don’t fall for it people.ESPN / Disney are the worst.

    — JC – Former World Champion LLC (@JoshOnAir) October 31, 2025

Why is everyone letting ESPN off the hook on the YouTube TV stuff. Google and Disney both suck and only want to milk every person for every penny possible for their shareholders. Both are the problem.

Worth noting that YTTV always blames the network in these disputes, but we have several of these yearly and it's always a different network, but the platform digging their heels in is constant: YouTube TV.YTTV prices up 137% since 2017, 28% since 2020, and 14% in the last year t.co/pYzLYTwK3A

YouTube TV issued a statement claiming they couldn’t reach a “fair deal” with ESPN, while ESPN is claiming that Google is “refusing to pay fair rates” for ESPN’s channels.

The two parties will continue to try and make a deal going forward. However, for the time being, CFB fans will not be able to watch the SEC on YouTube TV and will have to turn elsewhere.
