Everyone was buzzing about Linda Hamilton when it was revealed that she'd play a role in the upcoming fifth and final season of Stranger Things.
When the first teaser dropped over the summer, fans only got a glimpse of the Terminator star's involvement as Dr. Kay, a character connected to the military that looked "ready to fight," according to fans.
And the new Stranger Things official trailer, which dropped Oct. 30, reveals there's plenty to fight for to save Hawkins (and the world) from Vecna, the Mind Flayer and the Demogorgons.
While still keeping much under wraps about Hamilton's involvement, Matt Duffer told Empire that the 69-year-old is going to be one of the season's antagonists, explaining that she's yet another "government agent hunting down Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven."
“She’s hyper-intelligent and intimidating,” he teased, and she knows how to put those skills to use, as Matt added, "She’s a scientist but if she needs to, she can get into a fight and shoot a gun."
The latest trailer offered a snippet of the action and sci-fi legend, in full military gear, firing a gun, as fans expressed their excitement.
"Linda Hamilton!!! im so excited to see her in this and hate her character hahah," one fan wrote, fully knowing that anytime a government agent pursued Eleven, it only hindered her and her friends from doing what needed to be done to stop the evils of the Upside Down.

— Amy ✨ ?️? ??? (@MojoWitchcraft) October 30, 2025Hamilton became a household name after portraying Sarah Connor in 1984's Terminator, reprising the role and cementing her legacy with Terminator 2: Judgment Day. She starred in the hit TV series Beauty and the Beast, snagging Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.
Following the success, she pulled back from high-profile roles before stepping back from the industry in the 2000s, officially coming out of retirement to play Sarah again for the first time in three decades in 2019's Terminator: Dark Fate.
In a PeopleMagazine interview in Aug. 2025, she revealed that she thought about retiring due to hip pain, but opted to take on Stranger Things Season 5, the fourth and final season of Resident Alien and a new film, Osiris.
"I’m tired. Really, really tired,” she confessed about her action-packed schedule.
Stranger Things Is Officially Coming to an End
Matt, along with brother Ross Duffer, previously told Variety that the final season was actually going to be the end. "This is a complete story. It's done," the show creators noted, adding that the highly anticipated season would finally explain what the Upside Down is.
"Every season would be like, ‘Should we talk about it?’ And we’d go, ‘No, let’s wait.’ And then finally, we’re like, ‘Well, we have to now!’” Matt revealed.
The duo also confirmed that a fan-favorite character wouldn't be returning, as Eddie Munson (Josheph Quinn) will stay dead, shooting down a fan theory.
“I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead,” Matt said. “Joe is so busy, anyway, that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot, like, five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, R.I.P. He’s fully under that ground.”
As for the kids-turned-young adults in Hawkins, they're committed to "finding Vecna and ending this once and for all, together," just how it started.
Stranger Things 5 will hit Netflix with Episodes 1-4 of Volume 1 premiering on Nov. 26, at 8 p.m. EST, Volume 2 with three episodes on Christmas Day, and the big two-hour finale, which will also be playing in theaters, on New Year's Eve. ?SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox?
