Maryland native Dylan Mellendick has verbally committed to stay in-state and swim for Mount St. Mary’s University beginning in the fall of 2026. Mellendick attends Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Md., and currently competes for Cardinal and Gold Aquatics, specializing in breaststroke.
“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at The Mount. First, I’d like to thank my parents for all their support and guidance through this process. I’d also like to thank my coaches and teammates for pushing me to compete at my best. Go Mount!”
Mellendick was a finalist at the 2025 MIAA A Championships (SCY) in early February, placing 10th in the 100 fly with a lifetime best of 55.01 and 13th in the 100 breast (1:04.48). He also contributed to his team’s 200 medley relay with a 24.02 fly split, helping the relay finish 4th, and assisted the 200 free relay to a 5th-place finish as the lead-off swimmer (22.85).
The following week, Mellendick triumphed at the MD GBSA Last Chance Qualifier (SCY), winning the 100 free (50.87), 50 fly (25.00), and 100 IM (57.19). His time in the 100 free remains a lifetime best. He also placed 10th in the 200 free (1:59.74).
Mellendick’s success continued later in the month when he recorded his fastest times to date in the 100 breast (1:00.74), 50 free (22.51), 50 fly (24.68), and 100 IM (56.14) at the Maryland Senior Championships (SCY). All of these times were achieved during prelims, except for the 100 IM. In finals, Mellendick placed 23rd in the 100 breast (1:01.97) and 30th in the 100 IM.
Mellendick recorded his fastest 200 breast time of 2:17.43 at the 2024 WV CM Speedo Invitational (SCY) in December, placing 10th. He also finished 10th in the 50 free (22.60) and 13th in the 400 IM (4:30.78), with his 400 IM time remaining a personal best. Additionally, his prelim time in the 200 IM of 2:06.42 established a new personal best.
