Hey, so the Bulls won again. That’s 4-0 to start the season, and some of these wins are coming against theoretical contenders. Sooooo, it isn’t my lane to make any kind of predictions here, but that seems like a very encouraging start to the season?
The Toronto Blue Jays are heading home needing just one win in two games in order to take the 2025 World Series. They won Game Five last night over the Los Angeles Dodgers on the strength of early dingers and one of the best pitching performances in World Series history: Kinda wild that the 2025 MLB season will both begin and end outside the United States. The Blue Jays kicked off the game with back-to-back homers by Davis Schneider and Vlad Guerrero Jr., marking the first time that’s ever happened in the World Series.One-two punch ?Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went back-to-back to start game 5#WorldSeries pic.twitter.com/5bgRFNly36
Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. start Game 5 with a bang ?It's the first time in World Series history that a team has gone back-to-back to lead off a ballgame.
— The Athletic (@theathletic.com) 2025-10-30T00:28:25.379Z Those homers came off of Blake Snell, who has now been touched up by the Blue Jays twice in a row. I guess what he meant here was he’s not very GOOD at making excuses, but is happy to try:Snell: “I’m not one to make excuses… it’s just pretty unlucky. Only so much you can do, and that’s baseball.” pic.twitter.com/lj04W0gMZh
— SportsNet LA (@SportsNetLA) October 30, 2025 Don’t get me wrong. Snell was not BAD, and he’s not wrong that luck is of course a huge factor in baseball. But he gave up seven batted balls at 96.5mph or higher, seven with an xBA of .320 or higher, and he walked four. It’s not like his performance was pristine and he got dinked and dunked or had bad plays behind him. Was it a “5 ER” type performance over his 6.2 innings? Probably not. But the Dodgers lost 6-1, and Snell gave up dingers to the first two batters. So. Snell was outperformed by rookie Trey Yesavage, who struck out a whopping 12 Dodgers batters over his 7.0 innings of one-run ball. Three hits and no walks. It was one of the best World Series pitching performances ever, and certainly for a rookie.TWELVE strikeoutsZERO walksTrey Yesavage has the most strikeouts by a pitcher in a #WorldSeries game with no walks ?H/T @SlangsOnSports pic.twitter.com/6ncWSlySSB

— MLB Network (@MLBNetwork) October 30, 2025 All this from Yesavage and he gets … two weeks of service time at the end of the regular season. Obviously you can’t plan on, or assume a deep postseason run, but this certainly played out well for the Blue Jays in a number of ways.Yesavage has to frame this one pic.twitter.com/J0ssZB4AeB
— Talkin’ Baseball (@TalkinBaseball_) October 30, 2025 This definitely deserves calling out:What Bo Bichette is doing this World Series is remarkable. On the verge of a massive payday in free agency, comes back without a rehab assignment after missing the entire postseason with a sprained knee. Then immediately elevates Toronto’s offense while playing a new position. t.co/TqSlcsRSLv
— Joon Lee (@joonlee) October 30, 2025 It really is wildly impressive what Bo Bichette is doing, and how much he’s contributing to the Blue Jays’ World Series success. It almost felt like he and the Blue Jays were kinda forcing it with the return, but clearly, they were not. He’s just making them better, even in this unique situation. And, yes, yes, I have to say it: reminiscent of what Kyle Schwarber did in 2016. That didn’t come with a position change, I suppose, but he’d missed the WHOLE YEAR and came back right into the World Series and raked. That’s bonkers stuff. Dang, I miss Kyle Schwarber now, and it would be fun if the Cubs were a surprise suitor for him this offseason. This is hilarious, and I’m very sorry to Jameson Taillon for laughing as much as I did:View this post on Instagram
