CAIRO, Oct 28 (MENA) – Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan al-Khatib said the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) comes at a time that coincides with a notable boom Egypt is experiencing across all domains, creating a positive global momentum towards Egypt.
In an editorial to MENA, he wrote “Recently, the world’s focus has turned towards Egypt with hope and optimism to end the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, culminating in Egypt hosting the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace, during which a ceasefire was announced, bringing an end to the tragedy that the Palestinian people have endured for two years. This underscores Egypt’s position, leadership, role, and values that manifest in major global events.”
Economically, this significant event aligns with the positive improvement reflected by economic indicators, such as increased growth rates, investments, and exports, as reported by international institutions monitoring Egypt’s economic performance, he added.
In this context, Egypt has been present at the heart of the international scene, driven by major global companies and institutions interested in investing in Egypt or planning expansion by existing companies, he said.
Meanwhile, Egypt is implementing an economic reform program that has been applauded by international organizations, as evidenced during the annual meetings involving the government with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, followed by the Egyptian-European Summit in Brussels, which opened new horizons for economic cooperation in trade and investment.
Amidst all these events, Egypt was also prominent in the international cultural scene last month, with the announcement of the election of Khaled al-Enany as Director-General of UNESCO. His overwhelming victory reflected a global consensus on Egypt’s position and was a testament to the capability of its people to lead the international cultural scene, the minister added.
Once again, the world’s attention will turn to Egypt, as it displays its treasures and cultural, civilizational, and human heritage to the entire world, he said.
“We hope this marks a new starting point in increasing the influx of tourists to Egypt and the prosperity it brings to its people,” he added.
“Welcome to Egypt’s guests… the land of history and civilization, a land of promising opportunities and a bright future,” he concluded. (MENA)
