Can Cheryl & Debbie Be Co-Golden Bachelorettes?

During the Golden Bachelor season 2 finale Women Tell All reunion special, both fourth-place finisher Cheryl Steele and third-place finisher Debbie Siebers had emotional segments talking about their journeys on the show. It really has us clamoring for co-Golden Bachelorette leads if ABC renews it.

Cheryl was up first for a solo segment during the Women Tell All. She was visibly emotional watching her montage, to which she said, "What a journey. It was so beautiful and fulfilling."

She added that the one-on-one date at the Queen Mary was "a fairytale date," saying, "I just wanted to stay there for the rest of my life, to stay in that date. It was beautiful. I received a beautiful gift from Mel, a bracelet. I will cherish this the rest of my life. That was such a fairytale date."

She added that she was "very hopeful" that she would be on the show until the end, but she thinks she was too reserved, and she wishes she could have been just a little more outgoing.

"You think back, what could I have done differently? And I think the person that I am, I allowed the other girls to move in and kind of watched from afar," said Cheryl. "I should've been up front, I should've talked to him a little bit more. I'm not a good flirter. I wish I would've kissed him a little more, but I do have two grandkids that are watching the show, so."

Host Jesse Palmer then surprised Cheryl by revealing her son Tyson and granddaughters Azalea and Daisy were in the audience, and she looked genuinely surprised. The elder granddaughter, Azalea, said it was "interesting" watching her grandma look for love on TV, but she added, "I'm really proud of her, she did an amazing job."

Debbie Revealed That the Women Told Her to Be the Beach Bride

During her segment, Debbie called her time on the show "a rollercoaster ride" that has allowed her "to feel hopeful again."

"I think he saw pieces of me, but, you know, there are so many layers, and obviously, we've lived long lives and experienced so much. I wish I could've had more time with him. I felt, gosh, I got this close. My hope was that I would have that overnight [date]. I think there was so much more to say to each other," said Debbie.

She also revealed that it was the other women who told her to be the beach bride during the photoshoot group date. Debbie was trying hard not to cry as she said, "Oh my gosh, that was so epic. I still pinch myself. First of all, I went for the Beach Patrol outfit, I wanted to be in the red bathing suit. And the women were actually the ones that said, 'No, you need to be the beach bride because you've never worn a wedding dress.' [gets choked up] It was just special."

Debbie added later, "I'm just so proud of myself, that I put myself out there. I appreciate that [Mel] kick-started my heart again."

These segments made us really wish both Debbie and Cheryl could be co-Bachelorettes. It's not unprecedented — in 2015, the 11th season of the show had co-leads, though in a nasty twist, the suitors got to vote on which bachelorette they wanted to be the lead between Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson. Bristowe won the vote, and Nilsson was sent home. Luckily, ABC learned its lesson after that debacle because it was not a fun way to start the season.

So in 2020, Clare Crawley was the lead, but she fell so hard and fast for Dale Moss that they got engaged in episode four, and then Tayshia Adams finished out the season. Then in 2022 for season 19, they finally did a co-lead season the right way with Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia.

The point is, I would watch the heck out of Cheryl and Debbie being co-leads of The Golden Bachelorette. Heck, throw in whoever doesn't win this season because both Peg Munson and Cindy Cullers seem like great ladies too. I would absolutely watch Cheryl, Debbie and Peg/Cindy anchor a season of The Golden Bachelorette because they all deserve nothing but the best.

The Golden Bachelor airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and streams on Hulu the next day. The new season of The Bachelorette is moving to a new night when it premieres its 22nd season on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
