ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WHEC) – The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs will play the latest chapter in their rivalry on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
It’s become a yearly tradition, and sometimes twice a year, where the Bills and Chiefs play an all-time classic. In the Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes era, they’ve faced off nine times, with Kansas City winning five of those. And just how close has it been? Across all nine games, the Chiefs have scored 263 points, while the Bills have posted 242 points.
Despite the games being close, the results in the playoffs have always gone to the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City are 4-0 against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills when it matters most. And that’s what’s made this rivalry so one-sided.
But you can’t say the regular season means nothing, and this year it’s a game with massive implications. If the Jaguars take down the Raiders, the loser of the Bills and Chiefs would be out of the playoffs if they started here after week 9. That’s pretty far into the season to be on the outside looking in, so you better believe both of these teams are treating it like a must-win.
So on Sunday, it may not be a win-or-go-home outcome, but the game will be played like that, as Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes square off for the 10th time since 2020.

With Ed Oliver out for the long term, the Bills will be without one of their best interior linemen. They’ve already struggled a lot defensively, and without Oliver, it means someone else has to step up.
Insert Hoecht, who missed the first six games of the season because of a suspension. But now that he’s on the field, it’s only a positive for Buffalo. Hoecht 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in his first game back against Carolina, proving that the free agent pickup could be a game changer.
And that’s exactly what the Bills need when playing the Chiefs – someone who will make life difficult for Patrick Mahomes. Hoecht was signed with that in mind, and now we get to see it play out in real time.
