Fantasy Football WR Rankings, Who Should I Add Off Waiver Wires:

Kayshon Boutte (Patriots) was the highest recommended WR waiver wire pickup this week.

    Analysis

Realistically, Kayshon Boutte should not be as good as he’s been. He hasn’t seen more than five targets in a game since Week 1 … and yet he’s logged 55+ receiving yards and at least one touchdown in three straight games. The major factor: while he’s only logged a 16.9% targets share over that span, his 32.5% air yards share leads the Patriots, and Drake Maye is throwing a better deep ball than just about anyone in the league right now.

Boutte is tied with Emeka Egbuka for most deep-ball touchdown catches in the league (four), and Maye has a perfect 158.3 passer rating when targeting him 20+ air yards down the field. There will be games Boutte misses the one or two big plays and comes up close, but at this point, he is basically what Jameson Williams is supposed to be (and I’d rather have Boutte in my lineups than Williams).

Recommendation: Should be added in 12-team leagues

Who are the best stashes from the Fantasy Football WR Rankings?

Christian Watson (Packers) and Chimere Dike (Titans) present some of the best wide receiver stashes ahead of Week 9.

    Analysis

Christian Watson, WR – Packers (16%)

I guess we’re doing this again. Christian Watson has been a rollercoaster of emotions for fantasy managers over his four professional years —and cue the Al Pacino “just when I thought I was out…” gif— because Watson returned in Week 8 and delivered a 4-85-0 stat line on four targets. Three of those came deep down the field, with the other coming from a pseudo–in-line tight end alignment that got him out into the flat. Talking positively about a Packers wide receiver always comes with some sort of caveat, and this iteration is the fact that both Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed were out for his return.

Regardless, Watson was out there for 59.5% of Jordan Love’s dropbacks and racked up a tasty 3.86 yards per route run. That route participation may seem low, but due to Green Bay’s WR rotation, it’s actually quite a bit higher than Wicks’ 47.2% and just lower than Matthew Golden’s 66.8% marks heading into the game. Reed is due back in Week 10, but if Watson slides back into his role as a boom/bust WR3, he’s certainly worth a roster spot.

Chimere Dike, WR – Titans (8%)

I’m luckily not alone in this, but we all may have been rostering the wrong Titans rookie wide receiver this whole time. While fourth-rounder Elic Ayomanor just put up his second 50-yard game of the season (56 in Week 2, 52 in Week 8), slightly-earlier fourth-rounder Chimere Dike has thrown up an 11-163-1 line over the last two weeks, seeing a huge usage boost and a secure role out of the slot. This has coincided with the frustration and eventual departure of Tyler Lockett, which is clearly no strange coincidence, considering 82.6% of Lockett’s deployment came from the slot.

Has quarterback Cam Ward still been struggling? Well, yes. But it hasn’t been as bad. Through the first month of the season, Ward ranked dead last in yards per attempt (4.91), completion percentage over expected (-7.7%), and his rate of “highly accurate” throws (40.0%), which basically measures how often the throw allows the receiver to accrue more yardage after the catch. Over these last four games, those respective numbers have improved to 6.27 (24th), 2.6% (16th), and 54.4% (21st). Not mind-boggling numbers, but a marked improvement.

If Dike continues to see a target share creeping toward 20%, we could be seeing the emergence of a second-half FLEX option.
