Warning: This article contains elimination spoilers for Dancing With the Stars Halloween Night.
Jan Ravnik has no time for the hate. After the freshman Dancing With the Stars pos dancer and his celebrity partner, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jen Affleck, were eliminated from the ABC ballroom competition on Halloween Night, Ravnik was asked about the ongoing criticism about their partnership—and he made it clear he didn’t want to talk about former DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s recent criticisms of his skills as a ballroom pro.
“I have no comment on that,” Ravnik told Entertainment Tonight after the live DWTS broadcast on Oct. 28.
“Look, I got all the love on this show,” he added. “All the pros, from the judges, also. Like everyone gave me so much love, and whoever saying outside, the people [who are] trying to stay relevant and spreading the hate, this is not a way to do it. And I never will spread or take the hate.”
“So it's just coming here and here,” he said, making an “in one ear and out the other” gesture.
On Friday, Chmerkovskiy, 45, spoke on the Penthouse with Peta podcast and claimed Ravnik had “absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing With the Stars.”
Chmerkovskiy, who won one mirrorball trophy during his 17 seasons as a DWTS pro, went on to say that the Taylor Swift Eras Tour dancer had "zero foundation, technique, quality, understanding of the partnership.”
"It is absurd," he said of Ravnik's casting on the ABC dancing competition. “And this is unreal how blind we have to be, and God forbid say what's obviously there.”
Following his Halloween Night elimination, Ravnik, 30, addressed the scrutiny he felt as the new kid in the ballroom. He also accused "haters" of trying to stay relevant. “I mean, look, everyone has [an] opinion. Everyone has a right to have [an] opinion,” he told Us Weekly. “Haters [are] going to hate and whoever loves us, loves us.”
“What am I going to do? You can’t change their mind,” he added. “Everyone can have [an] opinion — either I respect [it] or don’t respect [it]. Yeah, let them talk. If they want to stay relevant in that way, yeah, let them hate.”
Despite the pro dancer drama, Ravnik went out with a bang. His final featured dance with Affleck was a contemporary to Swift’s song “Look What You Made Me Do,” and the music wasn’t a cover version. “I'm so proud, so proud,” he told Entertainment Tonight of his final dance, adding, “We got a master. Hey, that's a big thing.”
