Midwest natives Caleb Hearon and Jaboukie Young-White will star alongside Zooey Deschanel in a new movie filmed and set in Chicago.
The movie, “Trash Mountain,” is about a young gay man — played by Hearon — living in Chicago who goes back to his Missouri hometown after the death of his hoarder father.
Similar to the protagonist of the movie, Hearon is both gay and originally from Missouri.
“Incredibly grateful to be making our movie, Trash Mountain, in the beautiful city of Chicago right now,” Hearon said in an Instagram story on Monday. “The people I’ve met and the things I’ve learned in Chicago over the years have been the foundation to my creative life. I owe this place and its artistic communities more than I could ever repay.”
Hearon also expressed opposition to the ongoing federal immigration enforcement operations in Chicago in his post.
He lived and performed in Chicago for several years after graduating college, according to IMDb.
Hearon wrote the movie alongside Ruby Caster and it will be produced by Colin Trevorrow via Metronome Film, Inc., according to a post on the production company’s website.
Hearon boasts over 1 million followers on TikTok and joined the ranks of both Variety’s “Top Comics to Watch” and Vulture’s “Comedians You Should and Will Know” in 2020.
Chicago-born Young-White is also starring alongside Hearon, according to IMBd.
Young-White has appeared in Abbott Elementary and Only Murders in the Building, among other TV shows and movies.
