ROCHESTER, N.Y. – An “evening in Paris” was the theme of Saturday night’s 39th annual Golisano Children’s Hospital Gala.
The event at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center raised money to support the expansion of Golisano’s Pediatric Emergency Department. The hospital says that, as the region’s only level one pediatric trauma center, it provides care to more than 32,000 children each year.
That’s far more than the space was originally designed for. Kevin Parker, the honorary gala chair, spoke about why those funds are so crucial.
“It’s important that the community come together to help support the children’s hospital. And this year’s funding need happens to be the emergency pediatrics,” Parker said. “It’s currently operating at twice its intended capacity. So these dollars tonight, the goal is two million dollars, is to help the expansion of something that’s really needed.”
This expansion project aims to ensure that children get emergency care in an environment tailored to their specialized needs and comfort. You can learn about how to contribute to the project here.
