Actress Valerie Bertinelli is getting candid about her marriage to her late ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Bertinelli appeared on the October 24 episode of Drew Barrymore's talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show. While filming the episode, the actresses touched on Ben Stiller sharing he feared he "was failing" during his temporary separation from his wife, Christine Taylor.
Bertinelli then noted that she has been divorced twice, with her second ex-husband being, Tom Vitale. She said that she didn't view her 2022 divorce from Vitale nor her 2007 divorce from Van Halen as failures.
"I don't like to think of my two marriages as having failed, necessarily, but just… I don't know. We grew, we didn't work … what happened I don't know, but I don't feel like it was a failure because there were many years there that were so happy," said Bertinelli, who married Vitale in 2011.
She also suggested that she couldn't think of her marriage to Van Halen as a failure because they shared her beloved son, Wolfgang "Wolfie" Van Halen, 34. In addition, she noted that she and Van Halen wed in 1981, when she was just 20 years old.
"We were so young. I was 20 when we got married. But I just can't think of it as a failure, because I still have deep love for the man even though he's not here," said Bertinelli, in reference to Van Halen's 2020 death.
She was quick to clarify that she doesn't have "a romantic love" towards the late guitarist.
"I know people get that all confused when I say soulmates and everything. It wasn't romantic love any longer, it was just a deep love for a soul that I adored. And he was a good man," said Bertinelli while on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Bertinelli opened up about her divorce from Vitale and Van Halen's death during a 2022 interview with TODAY. Bertinelli shared that she has found divorce difficult.
"You never go into marriage thinking you're getting a divorce. You think it's going to last forever," said the 65-year-old actress.
In addition, she shared that she and Van Halen reconnected close to his passing, despite experiencing some "bumpy times."
"No matter what you go through, you can always find your way back to love and forgiveness," said Bertinelli in the 2022 interview.
