Jenna Bush Hager admitted she wasn't always on her best behavior in college, and she revealed she once evaded the secret service in order to hide a relationship with a former boyfriend.
During the Thursday, October 23, episode of Today With Jenna & Friends co-host, Bush Hager, 43, recalled a time she tried to get past the Secret Service team as the daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.
“I’ve talked about this before but I had Secret Service and I hesitate even saying this but I dated a football player at Texas for a brief time and I was embarrassed that the Secret Service would know that,” she told guest co-host Savannah Guthrie. “I don’t know why. Not that the football player… at all. I just didn’t want them to know I had a new boyfriend because senior year was active for me.”

Guthrie, 53, teased her by saying, “Lots of walks of shame."
“Lots of them,” Bush Hager, who attended The University of Texas at Austin during her father's first term as president, agreed. “So I had my friends sneak me. I was in the back of the car and they snuck me past the Secret Service.”
After she noted that she’s “never admitted this,” Bush Hager said the experience was “the only time I escaped them.” The TV personality also revealed that the relationship was short-lived by adding, “Then we broke up soon after.”
“You snuck out from the Secret Service. So they thought you were at home in bed reading the Bible or whatever and you were at the football player’s house?” Guthrie asked before she high-fived Bush Hager for the story.
While the romance didn't last with the football player, Bush Hager did find lasting love with her husband, Henry Hager, whom she married in 2008. The couple shares daughters Mila, 12, Poppy, 10, and son Hal, 6.
The story is not the first time Bush Hager has shared a story about an ex. During the October 9 episode of Today, she recalled dating a “skinny fella” who was the same size as her when she was in college.
While telling Willie Geist about their brief relationship, Bush Hager revealed the she and the ex were together “getting ready for class [and] he put on my jeans and they fit.” Once she found out they wore the same pants size, Bush Hager knew their breakup romance was bound to end.
"And that was the beginning of the end,” she explained of her mindset at the time. “I was like, ‘Oh, I can’t be bigger than you.’”
