Olivia Rodrigo Shares the Hardest Part of Touring No One Talks About

Even though Olivia Rodrigo has two sold-out tours under her belt, she still gets nervous before going on stage and always takes a lesson or two from each tour.

The 22-year-old pop star wrapped her GUTS Tour this past summer and is now working on her third studio album. But on Tuesday, it was announced that Rodrigo will be performing for the first time since the end of her tour — this time in a small, intimate New York City concert instead of huge arenas. Fans were able to access and purchase tickets if they had an American Express Platinum card under their name. All of the proceeds will go to Fund 4 Good, her charitable foundation that supports women's rights, reproductive freedom and education. The show is set to take place on Thursday evening at the Park Avenue Armory in Manhattan.

A day before her performance, Rodrigo spoke with Harper's Bazaar, where she opened up about her life post-tour, as well as the updates on her highly anticipated third studio album. Her first two albums, SOUR and GUTS, both received widespread praise from fans and critics, earning her three Grammy awards and 14 nominations since her music debut in 2021.

One of the questions interviewer Chelsey Sanchez asked the "deja vu" singer was what she learned about herself while on tour, which she replied with "Oh my goodness. I learned so much."

"Touring is so, so hard. I had to take care of my body and myself in a way that I’d never had to before. I was just super careful about exercising and eating all the right foods and making sure I felt nourished and making sure I got enough sleep," Rodrigo revealed. "I feel like I really had to kind of be an adult and take care of myself for the first time in a while, so I learned a lot about that."

Her first headlining tour, the Sour Tour, which supported her debut album with the same title, took place from April to July 2022 and consisted of 49 shows around North America and Europe. Meanwhile, on her Guts Tour, Rodrigo performed at 102 shows in arenas, and it started in February 2024 in Palm Springs, California, and ended on July 1, 2025, in Manchester.

"It was a very challenging and very rewarding process, both just as a person and as an artist, and so I look back at those times very fondly," she concluded.

Rodrigo is currently working on new music with her producer, Dan Nigro, whom she also worked with when creating her first two studio albums. On Monday, it was reported that the singer recently split from her management team, but is focusing on creating her own executive team.
