Kristen Bell has been busy promoting the second season of her Netflix series, Nobody Wants This, so despite the backlash she's been receiving online, the show must go on.
Earlier this week, Bell's Instagram post for her anniversary with husband Dax Shepard drew controversy after she shared a joke he made about never "killing" his wife in the 12 years of their marriage. In the wake of the backlash, Bell skipped out on a scheduled appearance on the Today show on Wednesday, October 22, but now, she's back in action.

Bell resurfaced in public on Wednesday night, when she appeared on the red carpet for a screening of Nobody Wants This and a Q&A session at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, as multiple outlets including Us Weekly reported.
The actress posed for photos in a black silk top, coordinating black pants and a beret. This appearance comes after she chose not to show up for her Today show interview, leaving costar Justine Lupe to handle it on her own.
Though Bell didn't address her anniversary post at the event, she did talk about how she and Shepard make their marriage work in an interview with People that was published on Thursday, October 23.
"It just meant we did have to have a lot of patience for each other to figure out what the compromises would be, and a general understanding that we're probably going to have different viewpoints on almost everything — and figure out a respectful way to have those discussions," she said.
Kristen Bell's Anniversary Post Has Stirred Up Quite a Bit of Controversy
In honor of their anniversary, Bell posted a photo of her husband hugging one of their daughters, along with a caption that was meant to draw laughs but ended up getting a very different reaction.
“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would,’” she wrote.

Her followers didn't think that her caption was very funny, especially since October also happens to be Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
"Just another tone deaf celebrity who makes light of women who are killed by their partners every single day," one commenter wrote.
Another added, "This is awful. DV is not a joke."
So far, Bell has yet to respond to the backlash herself, and while the Instagram post remains live on her account, she has limited the comments.
