Police arrested a 35-year-old man in connection to a hit-and-run crash in suburban Chicago that left an 18-year-old skateboarder seriously injured, police said.
Around 6:44 p.m. on October 18, authorities responded to the 14900 block of Harmony Road, west of Briar Hill Road in unincorporated McHenry County for a call of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Authorities said preliminary investigation indicates that the 18-year-old from Marengo was riding a skateboard westbound “along or near the white edge of the eastbound lane of travel” when the driver of a dark-colored SUV struck him and fled.
The 18-year-old was airlifted to a hospital in Rockford where he was listed in serious but stable condition, police said.
Further investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit identified the vehicle involved as a 2019 Toyota Highlander, a development that led to the arrest of 35-year-old Issac D. Keating of Marengo in connection with the crash.
Keating is facing three charges, two of which are felony charges, including failure to report accident involving personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury and failure to provide aid.
The incident remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit.
