The Alabama gymnastics schedule for the 2026 season was announced Oct. 14. The Crimson Tide will host five home meets and go on the road for six.
Alabama will host Missouri, Oregon State, Arkansas, Kentucky and Georgia. On the road, the Crimson Tide will take on Clemson, Florida, Oklahoma, Auburn, LSU and Illinois.
Jan. 16 at Florida
Last year, the Crimson Tide and Gators met two times during the season. At home, Alabama lost to the Gators despite the meet marking the team’s second highest score for the season.
Then-senior Lilly Hudson landed the floor title, while Florida’s Leanne Wong and Selena Harris-Miranda took the rest of the titles.
“From a team process standpoint, we’re finding our groove, we’re peaking out at the right time,” head coach Ashley Johnston said of the meet. “We’re clicking into place and there’s always just one or two tweaks that we need to figure out.”
At the NCAA regionals, Florida placed first to head to the National Championships and Alabama placed second. The Gators had a 197.7 to the Crimson Tide’s 197.675.
Wong has since graduated, so Alabama has the opportunity to sneak in and land some titles.
Feb. 6 at Oklahoma
Alabama hosted Oklahoma for the 2025 season and lost to the Sooners after a week of practice plagued with sickness.
The Crimson Tide had multiple gymnasts out all week due to sickness, and that showed in the final rotation on the floor. Alabama had several gymnasts make crucial mistakes during their floor routines, like stepping out of bounds or falling during a tumbling pass.
“Obviously we wanted to be able to do better than that, we want to be able to handle those challenges better,” Johnston said. “I was proud that they were able to step up despite not having great training this week.”
Alabama will hope to have a healthy team this time around to post a better score against the reigning national champions.
Feb. 20 at Auburn
Last season, Auburn beat Alabama in Coleman Coliseum for the first time in program history. There were several small mistakes that may have led to this.
The Crimson Tide’s vault rotation had a lower than normal score, 48.925, after several gymnasts skipped or hopped on the landing. This put Alabama trailing from the beginning.
“I’m proud of them that even after the first event that sort of felt like we got a flat tire, it’s really tough in that moment to have a voice speak into the moment and overcome it, and I’m really proud of this squad for doing that organically,” Johnston said.
As the away team, the Crimson Tide will start on the uneven bars this season. The bars have been a good event for Alabama the past several years, and the team will look to start out strong to take the lead early.
Feb. 27 at LSU
Last year, Alabama hosted the then-reigning national champions and lost to them.
The Crimson Tide had a fairly good competition night, even though it pulled away with a loss. The team did what it knew best and put up a score of 197.075.
“Everybody was ready to step in, deliver big performances and build on that momentum,” Johnston said of the meet. “That was a great step in the right direction for us and excited to see a 197.”
March 6 vs. Kentucky
Last season, Kentucky handed Alabama its first loss of the season.
During the first rotation, then-freshman Paityn Walker suffered a fall in the anchor position on the uneven bars. Then, during the last rotation, the Crimson Tide had two falls and a shake on the balance beam. However, Alabama was able to post a season high 49.35 on the vault.
“I saw a lot from warm ups to the meet,” Johnston said after the meet. “I am proud of how they try to fight through a lot of challenging circumstances.”
To better its score this year and secure a win, Alabama will need to make sure beam and bar routines are tight to keep as many points as it can.
The whole schedule is as follows:
Jan. 9 vs. Clemson
Jan. 16 at Florida
Jan. 23 vs. Missouri
Jan. 30 vs. Oregon State
Feb. 6 at Oklahoma
Feb. 13 vs. Arkansas
Feb. 20 at Auburn
Feb. 27 at LSU
March 6 vs. Kentucky
March 8 at Illinois
March 13 vs. Georgia
March 21 SEC Championships
