Sean “Diddy” Combs reportedly survived a frightening encounter inside Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center — according to a friend of the rapper, that is.
Per Diddy’s longtime pal Charlucci Finney, the 55-year-old music mogul recently woke up to find a knife pressed against his throat during the night. Finney told the Daily Mail that Diddy was “just seconds away from serious harm, or death,” and that it remains unclear whether prison guards intervened or if Combs managed to fight off the attacker himself.
“I don't know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened,” Finney explained to the outleton Tuesday, October 22. Sources familiar with the incident also confirmed the account to TMZ the same day, describing it as a targeted act of intimidation.
Finney expressed deep concern for his friend’s safety, saying that he thinks that next time, Diddy won’t be so lucky. “If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him,” he said.
He continued, “It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain't gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean it won't work. Sean is from Harlem.”

Finney also commented about Diddy’s demeanor while inside the facility. “Sean has kept a lot of this stuff to himself because he doesn't want to worry his family,” he said. “But if you're in jail and you've been charged with anything sexual it's not a good place to be.”
According to DM, Diddy’s attorney, Brian Steel, also referenced the attack during the rapper’s sentencing, telling the judge that a guard stepped in to stop the inmate armed with the shiv.
The report comes weeks after Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison following his conviction on two counts of violating the Mann Act. He was acquitted of more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. His legal team has continued to maintain his innocence. For now, Diddy remains in MDC Brooklyn.
