The Diamondbacks’ Amiel Sawdaye and the Guardians’ Matt Forman have emerged as two finalists to head the Rockies’ rebuilt front office, according to a report by The Athletic on Wednesday.
The Rockies have not confirmed Sawdaye and Forman as finalists. It is not clear if they are the only two remaining candidates.
Sawdaye, currently the D-backs’ senior vice president and assistant general manager, began his front office career with the Red Sox. He worked his way up the ranks to become the director of amateur scouting before he followed former Red Sox executive Mike Hazen to Arizona.
Forman, who is known for his skills in baseball analytics, is the assistant GM under Cleveland’s president of baseball operations, Chris Antonetti, and GM Mike Chernoff. Forman began his career with the Guardians as an intern in 2013. In January 2022, he became an executive vice president.
Executive vice president Walker Monfort, the son of owner Dick Monfort, is leading Colorado’s search. The Rockies are hoping to announce the new head of their front office by the end of the month.
