Purdue vs Missouri
October 18, 2025 West Lafayette, Indiana SCY (25 Yards) Full Meet Results Team Scores Women: #18 Purdue 184 — 116 Mizzou Men: #15 Purdue 192 — 108 MizzouThe Purdue men’s and women’s swim teams swept Mizzou on Saturday, winning their first dual meet of the season in dominant fashion.
Women’s Recap:
Purdue won most of the women’s events, led by a trio of dual event swimming winners, and they took 1st or 2nd in seven individual events.
The Boilermaker women won the last event of the meet, the 400 freestyle relay in 3:25.53. Sophomore Lara Phipps led them off in 49.79, which was faster than her best time last season of 49.80 from the beginning of January. Caitlin Hurley swam 2nd in 50.92. Adele Sands was 3rd at 51.38, and Reagan Mattice finished 4th in 51.44.
Phipps was one of the two-event winners for Purdue. She won the 100 free in 49.90, touching more than a second ahead of Hurley, who swam 51.20 to finish 2nd overall. This swim was only two tenths off her lifetime best of 49.69 and was three hundredths off the 49.87 she swam at last year’s Big Ten Championships.
She also won the 100 fly in 55.16, coming in eight tenths ahead of Purdue teammate Brinly Hardy‘s 55.98 for 2nd. This was just over half-a-second faster than the 55.67 she swam to open last season.
Senior Reagan Mattice anchored Purdue’s relay 400 freestyle relay, and she also picked up two-event wins of her own. She started the meet with a win in the 1000 freestyle with her swim of 10:04.63, coming in eight seconds ahead of Mizzou’s Zoe Schneider.
Mattice also won the 500 free in 4:57.61, just four tenths ahead of Caitlin Hurley‘s 4:58.06. She was about two-and-a-half seconds faster than the 5:00.19 she swam at the Team Be Better Invitational in September, marking a new season best time.
Kate Mouser was Purdue’s other two-event winner, taking the 200 free and 200 IM. In the 200 free, she stopped the clock in 1:49.22, finishing just two tenths ahead of Hurley, who finished 2nd in all three of her individual events.
In the 200 IM, Mouser swam 2:03.19, which was about half-a-second faster than the 2:03.70 that was her season best time last season. She also swam the 200 breaststroke, finishing 2nd in 2:19.29 behind Lina Bank‘s 2:18.39 from Mizzou.
Purdue had three other individual event winners in Hannah Hill (50 free – 23.31), Abby Marcukaitis (100 back – 54.70), and Campbell Scofield (200 fly – 2:02.10).
The Boilermakers also won both diving events with Daryn Wright scoring 316.05 on the 1-Meter and 342.00 on the 3-Meter.
Mizzou had a few event winners as well, including Lina Bank‘s 200 breast win of 2:18.39. Bank’s swim was nearly a second and a half slower than the 2:16.92 she swam at this meet last year.
She also won the 100 breast in 1:02.14, three tenths better than her 1:02.43 from last year’s meet. She ended last season at 58.99.
Freshman Libby Bakker also won an individual event, taking first in the 200 back at 1:59.06. This swim was a new personal best time by a little more than a second, dropping from the 200.28 she set in March of 2024. The fastest time she swam last season was 2:00.90 at the West-Winter Juniors.
Finally, Mizzou won the 200 medley relay with the team of Sydney Bales (25.77), Bank (27.41), Grace Hanson (24.34), and Katie Kuehn (23.07).
Men’s Recap
The Purdue men’s team won 11 events against the Tigers, including both relays.
They started the day with a win in the 200 medley relay with Brody LePine (21.79), Jonah Lee (23.87), Alex Hotta (21.59), and Janis Dzirkalis (19.15) swimming 1:26.40 to touch just eight-hundredths ahead of Mizzou’s 1:26.48 for 2nd overall.
Patrick Broderick won the first individual event of the meet, the 1000 freestyle in dominant fashion. He swam 9:09.25 to touch more than seven seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher Matthew Mortensen from Mizzou. This swim was more than 10 seconds faster than the 9:21.83 he swam last season against Mizzou.
Broderick also won the 500 freestyle in a new season best 4:26.25. He has only been faster one time, at last year’s Big Ten Championships when he swam 4:24.80.
Janis Dzirkalis was Purdue’s other male swimmer to win two individual events, taking the 50 and 100 freestyle. He swam 19.70 in the 50 free to be the only man under 20 seconds in the event. In the 100, he touched in 44.24 to finish four tenths ahead of Mizzou’s Francois Malherbe.
There were five other individual event winners for the Boilermakers. Evan Mackesy won the final freestyle event, the 200, to make a Purdue sweep over the stroke. He touched in 1:37.49 to win by nearly two seconds and set a new personal best time, dropping nearly three seconds from the 1:40.19 mark he set in December of 2023.
Maxwell Blume and Giorgio Mango split the breaststroke events with Blume finishing 1st in the 100 at 53.64 to touch just two tenths ahead of teammate Jonah Lee. Mango swam 1:57.64, beating Blume by about a second.
Blake Rowe won the 200 back in 1:43.79, half-a-second ahead of teammate Dylan Burau. This was about a second off the season best 1:42.66 he swam at the Florida State Fall Classic at the end of September.
Purdue took the final relay of the meet as well, the men’s 400 freestyle relay, in 2:54.83 with Alex Hotta (45.31), Janis Dzirkalis (43.55), Nathaniel Thomas (43.65), and Andy Kelly (44.12).
Finally, Purdue took one of the two diving events with Zach Welsh winning the 3-Meter at 405.98.
The men’s 1-Meter event went to Mizzou diver Collier Dyer, as one of five event wins for the Tigers.
ASU transfer Quinlan Gould won the 100 back in 47.22, which is faster than the 47.89 he swam at last season’s Big 12 Conference Championships for the Sun Devils.
Senior Jan Zubik won two events, taking the 100 fly in 46.65 and the 200 IM in 1:47.07. His 100 fly was a second faster than the 47.60 he swam at this meet last year. He has only swam the 200 IM five times in his college career, but this was his 2nd fastest swim ever behind the 1:46.83 he swam at last season’s UGA Fall Invitational.
Matthew Judkins, a sophomore, earned his first career dual meet win in the 200 fly, swimming 1:45.75 to touch nearly a second ahead of Purdue’s Alex Hotta. His time was more than two seconds faster than the 1:47.96 he swam against the Boilermakers last season.
