DENVER (KDVR) — The Boulder County Sheriff's Office Wednesday morning executed nine search warrants across several different Denver metro counties and cities as part of a "grand jury investigation," county officials said.
The sheriff's office in a Facebook post announced the operation, saying the warrant executions began at 7 a.m. in unincorporated Boulder and Adams Counties, and the cities of Denver, Westminster, Wheat Ridge, Federal Heights and Johnstown. The sheriff's office identified more than 20 law enforcement agencies involved in the operation, including drug task forces and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is not involved in the operation, according to the sheriff's office.
The search warrants were for seven residences and two storage lockers, according to the sheriff's office.
"These efforts were coordinated and planned to be executed safely and professionally," the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office did not say what sort of investigation the operation is related to or what case it is, though the office said it is related to a Boulder County case.
The Boulder County District Attorney's Office released a statement saying the operation is part of a grand jury investigation "conducted by the District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement," and that the office will be prosecuting the case.
“Once the indictments are unsealed and the appropriate individuals are in custody, the District Attorney’s Office will issue a press release and release the grand jury indictment," the DA's office said.
The operation has closed East 104th Avenue in Commerce City between Idalia Street and Landmark Drive, according to the Commerce city Police Department in a Facebook post.
