Fans hoping to see beloved ’90s country star Mark Chesnutt perform in Indiana tonight will have to wait a little longer.
Just days after being released from the hospital following a serious health scare, Chesnutt has canceled another show — this time at the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center in Shipshewana, Indiana, originally scheduled for Wednesday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m.
On the venue’s ticketing site, the listing now reads simply “Cancelled Event.” No statement has yet been shared by Chesnutt’s team on social media.
This marks the latest development in Chesnutt’s ongoing recovery. The “Brother Jukebox” and “It’s a Little Too Late” singer was hospitalized on October 16 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, just hours before he was set to open for Alabama at the Raising Cane’s River Center.
According to his management, Chesnutt was being treated for a low sodium count and extremely high blood pressure. He was released from the hospital on Sunday, October 19, and returned home to Beaumont, Texas, where he’s been resting and undergoing follow-up testing with his doctors.

In a statement shared earlier this week, his publicist Don Murry Grubbs told Classic Country Music, “He’s home in Beaumont, Texas, and will see his doctor first thing Monday morning for testing comparisons. After they get the low sodium and high blood pressure under control, he’ll be good to go.”
Fans flooded social media with prayers and well-wishes after the update, writing messages like “Glad to hear you’re home. Hope for a speedy recovery and back out playing!” and “Speedy recovery… your health comes first. Prayers for you.”
Blue Gate Describes Chesnutt as One of Country’s 'True Treasures'
While the show may be off for now, the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center’s event page pays heartfelt tribute to the country legend’s decades-long career, calling Chesnutt “one of Country’s true musical treasures.”
The venue’s artist bio notes that he has 14 No. 1 hits, 23 Top 10 singles, four platinum albums and five gold records to his name, and praises him as a performer who “gave honky-tonk music back its soul.”

Critic Robert K. Oermann was quoted as calling Chesnutt “the hillbilly messiah” upon his arrival on the country scene in 1990 — praise that has followed him for more than three decades.
The Texas native, who grew up learning music from his father, Bob Chesnutt, has long been celebrated for keeping traditional honky-tonk alive through hits like “It Sure Is Monday,” “Almost Goodbye,” “Gonna Get a Life,” and his chart-topping cover of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”
A Series of Health Setbacks
This month’s hospitalization is Chesnutt’s third major medical issue in less than two years.
In November 2023, he was hospitalized for undisclosed reasons and postponed several shows. Then, in June 2024, he underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery following a “heart health issue.”
At the time, he told fans, “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming shows. I send my love and gratitude to my family and friends, the band and fans for your understanding, prayers and support, and look forward to seeing you all again soon at a honky tonk near you.”

As of now, Chesnutt’s team has not announced whether his remaining October and November tour dates — including upcoming performances in West Virginia, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia — will proceed as planned.
Fans across social media continue to send messages of support, urging the country favorite to focus on his health first.
“Mark, how are you? Getting better, I hope! Special prayer for you!” one fan wrote on Facebook, while another added, "Mark, I hope you are feeling well no,w hope you have a speedy recovery."
