ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Lilac Festival is set to return next May for its 128th year. Organizers announced the 2026 dates and opened applications to vendors on Wednesday morning.
The free festival at Highland Park will open on Friday, May 8, and run through Sunday, May 17. Once again, people can enjoy the fragrant scents of lilacs, live music, food, and games for ten days in a row. Organizers will once again offer free guided walking tours. Guests can reserve a spot on these tours today online here.

Vendors selling arts or food can register online here. The deadline to sign up for the general fair is March 1. The deadline for the Art in the Park and Small Business Circle is Dec. 19.
This year’s music lineup hasn’t been announced yet. Last year, the festival drew over 500,000 visitors. The festival all started with a local horticulturist, John Dunbar, planting lilacs in Highland Park and thousands of people showing up to see them.
