Alpine’s Aron joins rookie-filled FP1 in Mexico City

Alpine reserve Paul Aron has been added to the wave of young talents that will appear in Friday’s opening practice session at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

With seven newcomers confirmed so far for FP1, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez may feel more like a proving ground for the next generation than a warm-up for the established stars.

Aron will step into Pierre Gasly’s A525, fulfilling the team’s final mandatory rookie session of the season – and he’s clearly embracing the opportunity.

“I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the A525 for my latest Free Practice 1 session with the team,” commented the 20-year-old Estonian.

“I enjoyed the experience in Monza a lot and found it incredibly useful for my own personal development as a driver and my understanding of the car.”

    Ready for Mexico’s High-Altitude Test

Mexico’s unique conditions – thin air, long straights, and heavy braking zones – are expected to test even the most composed rookies, but Aron is eager for the experience.

“I’m ready to build on that this weekend in Mexico City in Pierre’s car. The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a very different track to any I have driven.

“It is high altitude which will make the handling of the car and the setup we choose very different to most other circuits and I’m looking forward to that challenge.

“I’m very grateful to the team for granting me this further opportunity and will do whatever is needed to help them set up a competitive weekend.”

A rookie roll call for the ages

Aron will share the circuit with an impressive group of debutants and young hopefuls: Pato O’Ward for McLaren, Arvid Lindblad for Red Bull, Antonio Fuoco for Ferrari, Frederik Vesti for Mercedes, Jak Crawford for Aston Martin, Ryo Hirakawa for Haas, and Luke Browning for Williams.

That’s seven rookies or an influx of fresh talent that will make Friday’s FP1 an intriguing proposition for teams and drivers alike.

For Paul Aron and his fellow rookies, it’s not just another practice run – it’s another crucial step in their journey toward a future in Formula 1.
