Michael Jordan is BACK!
The GOAT made his debut for the new NBA on NBC at halftime of the season opener between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets. Jordan’s segment, “MJ: Insights To Excellence,” will air throughout the season during certain NBA on NBC broadcasts. NBC’s last NBA rights deal ended following the 2001-02 season, but they were the main broadcast partner of The Association during Jordan and the Bulls’ dynasty run.

During Jordan’s debut episode of MJ: Insights To Excellence, he discussed the last time he picked up a basketball and told a great story about draining one of the more nerve-racking free throws he could remember taking. He also talked about how much he still loves the game of basketball and why he wants to give back to it.
If I’m being honest, while it’s great to see the GOAT on our TV screens talking basketball, the first segment of MJ’s new show left a little bit to be desired. It kind of just felt like one or two questions clipped off from a very long sit-down. Hopefully, as the year goes on, we get to hear him talk a little more about the season playing out in front of us, and not just his general insights on the game. Having said that, if it is the latter, I’ll happily watch every second of it since any amount of Michael Jordan content is better than none at all.
