Whoopi Goldberg Directly Addresses Donald Trump During The View

After showing clips of the bulldozing that's been going on recently at the Washington, D.C. landmark, Goldberg, 69, made her stance on the situation very clear.

"Okay," the Sister Act star said, before sending a message directly to the president.

"That is not your building. You don't own that building," she firmly stated. "That would be like me going over to Trump tower and saying I'm going to build a disco."

"I mean come on!" she continued before reiterating, "You don't own that building! That is the people's building!"

Goldberg's co-host Joy Behar then chimed in on the conversation to sing a modified version of Lesley Gore's famous song, "You Don't Own Me," which Behar changed with the revised lyric, "You don't own it."

"The guy is like a one-man wrecking ball," Behar, 83, went on to say, while Sunny Hostin also joined in to call Trump's renovations to the White House a "metaphor for what's going on in the country."

"He is tearing down the house," Hostin said. "He is tearing down the people's house."

Hostin also pointed out that Trump's plans to create a grand, golden ballroom is likely to end up looking "tacky," with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin agreeing, noting her concerns that the structure will end up looking more like a "Florida country club" than a distinguished American landmark.

Farah Griffin did however, defend Trump's right to make changes to the White House, though she admitted that the "optics" of building a ballroom to signify wealth and excellence are not great considering the current financial atmosphere of the country.

What Is Donald Trump Doing to the White House?

On Monday, Oct. 20, parts of the White House's East Wing were demolished in order to begin construction on Trump's new ballroom.

The plan for the grand new project, which is being privately funded by donors, is described as a "transformative addition that will significantly increase the White House's capacity to host major functions honoring world leaders, foreign nations, and other dignitaries," according to the White House website.

Trump announced on Monday that construction was officially underway on the East Wing, writing in a post on Truth Social, "I am pleased to announce that ground has been broken on the White House grounds to build the new, big, beautiful White House Ballroom."

"Completely separate from the White House itself, the East Wing is being fully modernized as part of this process, and will be more beautiful than ever when it is complete!" the president wrote. "For more than 150 years, every President has dreamt about having a Ballroom at the White House to accommodate people for grand parties, State Visits, etc. I am honored to be the first President to finally get this much-needed project underway—with zero cost to the American Taxpayer! The White House Ballroom is being privately funded by many generous Patriots, Great American Companies, and, yours truly."

"This Ballroom will be happily used for Generations to come! he added.
