Shawmut Aquatic Club’s Enzo Desviat Ruiz has verbally committed to Stanford University for the fall of 2026.

Desviat Ruiz hails from Wellesley, Mass., and represents Shawmut Aquatic Club. This past December, he raced at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships – East, where he swam a lifetime best in the 50 freestyle, clocking 20.49 to place29th overall. He also turned in a 34th-place performance in the 100 free (45.11) as well as an 81st-place finish in the 100 fly (50.02) and a 91st-place showing in the 100 back (51.08).
Just over a week later, Desviat Ruiz clocked a pair of notable best times at the NE CS SCY New England Senior Meet. There, he swam a pair of freestyle bests, clocking 44.91 in the 100 free, and 1:38.86 in the 200 free.
One of his best short course outings was at the Speedo Sectionals in Rochester this past March. Desviat Ruiz set bests in both the 100 fly (49.26) and the 100 back (49.08), finishing 5th and 3rd in each of those events, respectively. He also turned in top five finishes in the 100 free (3rd, 45.07), and 50 free (20.76). His 200 free finished 7th in 1:40.22, slower than his time from December.

Based on Desviat Ruiz’s best times, he would have finished 62nd in the 50 free, 64th in the 100 free, and 54th in the 200 free at those Championships.
There is plenty of opportunity for Desviat Ruiz to play around with his event lineup. With more than proficient times in both sprint fly and back, he could become a versatile piece to this Stanford men’s roster.
His 100 fly would have additionally ended up 52nd, while his 100 back would have been 42nd. So the likelihood of him swapping his freestyle events for some other stroke events is a possibility.
In addition to his skills in the pool, Desviat Ruiz also competes for the Wellesley High School men’s soccer team.
Desviat Ruiz joins Evangelos Efraim Ntoumas, Maxwell Stanislaus, Tyler Phillips, Nathan Foucu, and Davi Carvalho in the Cardinal 2026 recruiting class.
