Though Reba McEntire didn’t become a household name until the mid-1980s, the actress and country superstar has been steadily working in show business since the early 70s.
Between her television and music career, no one would blame McEntire for taking a step back from the spotlight, but that’s simply not her style.
"I don’t know when. It could be in 20 years. I think I’ll know when it’s the time,” McEntire told People on the possibility of retiring.
“Dolly [Parton] and I talked about that an awful lot when she did the Reba show, and I said, 'Are you going to retire?' She said, 'Why would I? What in the world could I do and have as much fun as what I’m doing in this job right now?' I agree with her a hundred percent. Slow down, maybe, but no plans of retiring,” McEntire added.

To date, McEntire has 32 studio albums under her belt, three Grammy Awards, 17 Academy of Country Music Awards, and seven Country Music Association Awards.
Moreover, the mother of one, who shares son Shelby Blackstock with ex-husband Narvel Blackstock, has appeared in television series including Reba, Malibu Country, and Big Sky.
McEntire also stars on the NBC sitcom Happy’s Place alongside her fiancé, Rex Linn.
“Getting to work with Rex, drive to work with Rex and do the show, the rehearsals, drive home, talk about it, rehearse together — that’s what’s really special for me,” McEntire told People. “I’ve not had that before.”
McEntire revealed that Linn, 68, proposed in December. However, the lovebirds publicly confirmed their engagement at the 2025 Emmy Awards in September.
"I've never been loved by a man like Rex Linn," McEntire swooned. "Rex is a very tender-hearted man, and I just love him with all my heart. He's a good guy. Real bashful though."
