A private company has reportedly taken responsibility for a wave of mysterious drone sightings last winter.
At that time, waves of drone sightings in the skies over New Jersey prompted concern from citizens, local law enforcement and local and national lawmakers.
The drones were spotted near sensitive military installations, sparking fears they could be from foreign adversaries or unknown, possibly nonhuman sources.
The White House said the drones were from private companies and posed no threat, but not everyone was satisfied with the answer.
Now, the New York Post has reported that a private contractor conducted a drone demonstration during the Army's UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) and Launched Effects Summit in August.
A source told the outlet that the contractor took responsibility at a recent military conference for the drone sightings, saying they were a test of the drone's capabilities.
The contractor also allegedly said the company had a private government contract and, because of that, was not required to disclose the testing to the public.
