President Sisi heads to Brussels for 1st Egypt-EU summit

CAIRO, Oct 21 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi left for the Belgian capital, Brussels, on Tuesday morning, leading Egypt’s delegation to the first Egyptian-European summit, scheduled for Wednesday.

Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed al-Shennawy said the convening of this historic summit, the first-ever between Egypt and the European Union, marks the culmination of the comprehensive strategic partnership officially launched in Cairo in March 2024.

During the visit, President Sisi will hold a series of meetings with senior European Union officials, as well as a number of European leaders.

The president will also meet with the King of Belgium, the spokesman added.

The visit aims to strengthen political cooperation and coordination with the EU and Belgium on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

It will also carry a strong economic dimension, as a major economic forum on investment opportunities in Egypt will be held on the sidelines, with broad participation from leading European companies and business leaders.

The summit will further review Egypt’s vision for combating illegal migration, along with a number of key issues of common concern, the spokesman noted. (MENA)
