IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Irondequoit Police say a woman is facing charges after she and her children were reportedly kidnapped on Monday night. Police say the story of the kidnapping couldn’t be verified.
Officers got reports of a kidnapping just after 9 p.m. They got word that the mother and her children, 2 and 4, were kidnapped and being ransomed. The person who reported the kidnapping said the mother was last seen on Birchwood Drive in Irondequoit, was heading to a location in Rochester, and never made it there.
While investigating, police found the mother’s car in Greece. Officers say they spotted several people getting into that car on Tuesday after midnight and speeding off.
Officers from Irondequoit, Rochester, and Greece chased the car but say it refused to pull over. Eventually, officers used spike strips, but the car continued through Greece, the city, Route 104, and Culver Road. The car finally stopped on Birchwood Drive in a neighborhood off Culver Road.
Irondequoit Police say that’s where they arrested the mother and another person. Police say her two children were in the back seat, “unharmed and in good spirits.”
