Savannah Guthrie has conducted many memorable interviews as an anchor on The Today Show, though she recently revealed her one major career regret was asking Khloé Kardashian about her father's true identity.
Back in 2012, Guthrie, 53, put Khloé, 41, on the spot when she asked about about rumors that her late dad, Robert Kardashian, was not her biological father. At the time, it was speculated that O.J. Simpson was actually her dad after fans claimed she didn't resemble Robert Sr.
"I asked Khloé Kardashian, like, 10 seconds before we were going to break about the rumors that her father wasn’t her father,” Guthrie said when asked if she had any regrets from her past interviews during the Monday, October 20, episode of The Today Show.
She explained, “So at the very end we were like, ‘And Khloé, like, what about this rumor that Robert Kardashian’s not really your father?’ And they were like, ‘10, nine, eight…’ and I was so embarrassed."
Guthrie added that she felt uneasy about asking the question, though ultimately went against her better judgement due to “all this pressure” she faced from producers who wanted her to ask the “dishy question.”
She went on to praise Khloé for brushing off the question like a pro. “And she was such a class act. She was like, ‘Ah, nothing to it.’ We made the break. I asked the question, Khloé was a total class act," she said.
Khloé has openly denied speculation that Robert Sr. isn't her biological father. During a May 2012 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she was encouraged to take a paternity test to set the record straight. However, Khloé refused and simply stated that her “dad is Robert Kardashian.”

Robert Sr., who was married to Kris Jenner from 1978 until 1991, died in 2003 at the age of 59 following his battle with cancer. The former couple also share daughters Kourtney Kardashian and Kim Kardashian and son Rob Kardashian.
Kris, 69, also shares daughters Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner with ex Caitlyn Jenner.
Several years after the rumors circulated, Simpson also denied rumors that he was Khloé's biological father.
“Khloe, like all the girls, I’m very proud of, just like I know Bob would be if he was here,” the former football player wrote via Twitter in 2019 in response to the rumors. “The simple facts of the matter is she is not mine.”
Simpson, who died in 2024 at the age of 76, was linked to the Kardashian family due to his close friendship with Robert Sr. The Kardashian patriarch even served on Simpson's now-infamous legal team when he was accused of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.
He was ultimately found not guilty in October 1995 following a high-profile criminal trial. However, he was found liable in a civil trial that was held in February 1997.
