The Denver Broncos could be without inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw this week against the Dallas Cowboys after the NFL announced they are suspending him one game without pay for unsportsmanlike conduct following the Broncos win on Sunday.
Greenlaw is planning on appealing the suspension, per source.
Denver just saw Greenlaw make his debut in Sunday’s game against New York after missing the first part of the season due to a quad injury.
The NFL’s announcement states, “After the conclusion of the Broncos-Giants game, Greenlaw chased after referee Brad Allen and threatened him as he tried to leave the field.”
Greenlaw’s violation falls under Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1(b), which prohibits “the use of abusive, threatening or insulting language or gestures to opponents, teammates, officials, or representatives of the League.”
Players were noticeably frustrated by the officiating in Sunday’s game, in particular a game the Giants had seven first downs due to penalty, including a late roughing the passer call and pass interference call on Riley Moss, both calls which were questionable.
Footage from the incident has surfaced, but it will be interesting to find out if there was anything that actually captured what was said, which will factor into whether or not Greenlaw’s appeal is denied or overturned.

If Greenlaw is suspended for the Cowboys game, it would be a tremendous loss for the Broncos defense after just having him return.
