A woman sent a man to the hospital with spinal cord injuries after hitting him with a tequila bottle following a fight earlier this month in Fort Lupton.
Wanda Perkins, 43, faces charges of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury and second-degree assault with a deadly weapon causing injury, Colorado court records show.
Just before 2 a.m. Oct. 4, Fort Lupton police responded to a report of an assault in progress in the 1200 block of Quarters Avenue, according to an affidavit for Perkins’ arrest.

The man was taken to a hospital, where medical staff later said his injures “were a matter of serious bodily injury to his spinal cord,” according to the affidavit.
Several witnesses said the two victims got into an argument before one called Perkins, who came from across the street and began arguing with the man. During the argument, Perkins grabbed the tequila bottle and hit the man across the head, the affidavit states.
As Perkins left the house, she hit the woman with the same bottle, according to the affidavit. She was also taken to a nearby hospital, but the extent of her injuries were not included in the affidavit.
Perkins was released later that day on a personal recognizance bond, meaning she paid no money, with her signature instead serving as a promise to appear at all future court dates.
She is next set to appear for an advisement hearing Dec. 4 in Weld County District Court.
