ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It’ll be an ugly fall day as a low pressure system slowly drags off to the east, bringing in plentiful rainfall and blustery winds as it does so. Winds will be the most noticeable thing today out of the northwest 15-25 MPH with gusts up to 35 MPH, perhaps 40 in some spots, but the wind will be more of a nuisance than a threat so we’ll keep it Green on the Threat Tracker. Some trash bins may tip over, some dead branches may fall, but not expecting much more than that. Rain will taper off this afternoon, being replaced by partly cloudy skies and occasional passing showers.
A break in the rain overnight, in fact there will be some clearing around midnight to 2am, then tomorrow winds come out of the southwest at 10-15 MPH which will warm us up to the 60s. Showers are expected midday as well as the afternoon, with some showers possibly becoming heavy. The rainy trend continues over the next three days as another low pressure system spins to our north, bringing in cooler air and triggering some lake showers off of Lake Erie. All the rain will help fight the drought, but it will also pose a risk on roads as wet leaves on the ground will decrease friction. Don’t slam on the brakes if you’re driving over wet leaves.
