Diet Coke fans, the day so many of you have been waiting for is finally here–well, almost.
A couple of months ago, Parade reported on the exciting return of Diet Cherry Coke. The once-discontinued, but ever-popular flavor, was confirmed to arrive as a Kroger exclusive flavor shortly after rumors began circulating that it would be coming back for a limited run during the summer of 2025. Then, it was revealed that Diet Coke Lime would be coming back–not as a retailer exclusive–also with a retro look and only for a limited time.
Now, we're hearing whispers that Diet Cherry Coke will be returning to the Coca-Cola portfolio as a permanent offer–and soon.
Is Diet Coke Cherry Returning Permanently? What We Know So Far
The cherry-flavored soft drink is apparently coming back as an everyday Coca-Cola offer with modern packaging, according to new reports. While the company has yet to officially announce the big update, sources that attended the recent National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) trade show in Chicago earlier this week are reporting that reps for the company confirmed Diet Cherry Coke is coming back permanently.

"I spoke to Coca-Cola at NACS and they confirmed this is a 'sustain' item which means it is intended to stick around so hopefully it sells well and stays FOREVER this time," trusted food blogger Snackolator shared in a recent Instagram post.
According to the influencer, the returning favorite is slated to return in early 2026 in both 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans with a more modern look.

"Oh, this is exciting as someone who missed the first drop!" one fan declared in response to the news.
"I only saw it at my local Ralph’s twice," a second wrote, adding that "Both times I bought every bottle they had!"
"YESSSS YESSSSS," a third cheered. "This makes me nostalgic… my mom used to love this."
"My favorite Diet Coke," another gushed as someone else teased, "Don’t play with my heart."
"I wish they would keep lime diet coke permanently too," one more begged.
Although a more specific release date was not shared, given the information we do have, we would expect to see the revamped Diet Coke on shelves sometime in the first quarter of the year. Even better, it's reportedly coming back as a standard, nationwide release that's not exclusive to any one family of stores, meaning fans should be able to grab it wherever they buy their other go-to Coca-Cola products in the coming months.
A Coca-Cola spokesperson wasn't immediately available for comment. We will update this article with any relevant insight that may be shared.
