Prior to the actress’ post, Netflix confirmed that the rom-com would be joining a lineup of new and classic films and TV shows available on the streaming platform this month. The selection includes the Austin Powers trilogy, Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2, Blue Crush, the iconic comedy Casper and more.
Will There Be Confessions of a Shopaholic 2?
Based on the chick-lit book of the same name, Confessions of a Shopaholic was helmed by P.J. Hogan, who also directed Julia Roberts’ My Best Friend's Wedding and the 2003 remake of Peter Pan.
The story follows Rebecca Bloomwood, a shopaholic drowning in credit card debt, who ironically lands a job as a financial journalist in New York City. Her column quickly becomes an overnight success, but as her web of lies begins to unravel, it threatens to destroy both her career and her love life.
Joining Fisher and Dancy in the movie are Krysten Ritter, who played Rebecca’s best friend Suze, Joan Cusack and John Goodman as Mr. and Mrs. Bloomwood and the antagonist Alicia Billington, a conniving clerk at Alettemagazine, played by Leslie Bibb.
With the film’s resurgence in popularity, Fisher once opened up about her interest in reprising the role.
"I would love to bring Rebecca Bloomwood back, I love Rebecca Bloomwood," she told Glamour in 2016, adding, "I don't know if anyone else wants her back, but just you and I could bring her back."
Unfortunately, despite the movie’s enduring fan love and ongoing rumors about a possible sequel, Confessions of a Shopaholic 2 has yet to be confirmed.
