Foodlink unveils new Edible Education Center at annual Fall Festival Saturday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A fall festival celebrated the opening of the new Edible Education Center at Foodlink’s Community Farm on Lexington Avenue. This initiative is part of a $2 million investment in the property.

The vision for the center began in 2010. Since then, Foodlink expanded its growing space and built a greenhouse. The farm serves about 100 local families and hosts workshops, field trips and community events.

“This is a space that is safe. It’s vibrant. It’s open to community members,” said Julia Tedesco, Foodlink CEO. “It’s located in the northwest quadrant of Rochester which has not seen a lot of investment in recent decades. So we’re proud to invest $2 million in the neighborhood. We took community input.”

In the future, Foodlink plans to team up with the Rochester City School District to host elementary school students. The goal is to educate them about farming, nutrition and more.
