Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro shared a health update five years after seriously injuring his hand in a freak accident, prompting fans to flood the Food Network star with prayers.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, Valastro took to Instagram with a video detailing his final surgery after his right hand was impaled three times by a metal rod while he was repairing a pin setter in his home's bowling alley in 2020.

"Today is the last day of work before I get my fifth and final hand surgery," he told followers in the video. "...I've got a lot of my strength back and I feel good. I can decorate. I can do anything. The only thing is I'm kind of like Dr. Spock right now, so like permanently. And I don't want to be."
In the clip, Valastro explained that his hand was swollen after the accident, and the tendon on his middle finger healed on the side of his knuckle, causing his hand to bend to the right.
"So, the doctor is going to open up, move the tendon over the top," he continued. "This finger is going to be straightened out, and I should be back to normal."
Toward the end of the video, Valastro also joked that it was difficult for him to give the middle finger, noting that he should be able to again after surgery.

On Friday, Oct. 17, Valastro returned to Instagram after the surgery to thank fans for their ongoing support.
"Thank you all for the kind messages and support you have sent me this week ❤️," Valastro captioned a video of himself decorating a cake with one hand as his right hand was bandaged. "If I haven’t responded, please forgive me, I only got one hand!"
Valastro concluded, "I want to thank Doctor Carlson and everyone at HSS again for taking such good care of me. A surgery slowing me down??? Fuggetaboutit!!"
