Fire Country said goodbye to Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) in the Season 4 premiere.
No, she didn’t die like Vince (Billy Burke) in the massive Season 3 cliffhanger fire. Instead, Gabriela opted to leave Edgewater, but not forever.

When Station 42 is basically taken out of service following Vince’s death, Fire Country fans learn Gabriela has been given a great opportunity. Manny (Kevin Alejandro) brings up the subject as he and Gabriela are exchanging stories about how they are helping Sharon (Diane Farr) and Bode (Max Thieriot).
It turns out that Gabriela has a job offer with Cal Fire. The job is to tour the country and inspire new firefighters by speaking at recruiting events. Gabriela is initially up in the air about the gig as she talks to her father, but the smile on her face speaks volumes.
Later, as Station 42 heads out to their first fire since Vince’s death, Gabriela informs Manny that this is her last shift there, at least for a while. That’s right, she’s taking the new Fire Cal job.

In true Fire Countryfashion, Bode finds out by accident just as Station 42 has safely wrapped up the fire. When the shift is over, Gabriela and Bode have a special moment where she reveals the idea stemmed from Gabriela saving her stalker, Finn (Blake Lee).
Bode and Gabriela have an emotional goodbye, during which they both admit their love for each other, which has never been their problem. The episode ends with Gabriela off on her new adventure.
Gabriela leaving the show wasn’t really a shock. Fire Country executive producer Tia Napolitano confirmed ahead of season 4 that the character was being written off. The good news is that Napolitano hinted that the show would be happy to bring Gabriela back at some point.
After all, this can’t be how Bode and Gabriela’s love story ends.
