LSU beefed up its frontcourt for the 2026-27 season with the commitment of 4-star small forward Kevin Thomas on Friday afternoon.
Thomas told On3 of his commitment to LSU head coach Matt McMahon and the Tigers for next season. He is a 6-foot-7 product of Montverde Academy in Florida and chose LSU over SEC rival Auburn, with Miami and Florida State also in the mix.

That class already included 4-star wings Herly Brutus, a 6-foot-5 player who is also from Florida, and Marcus Vaughns, a 6-foot-8 player who comes to Baton Rouge all the way from Australia.
Thomas showed his versatility while playing for SOH Elite in the Under Armour AAU circuit this past summer. He averaged 11.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.5 blocks and just 1.0 turnovers per game. Thomas’ shooting percentages were a little low though, at just 40% from the field, 32% from 3-point territory and 70% from the free-throw line.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Thomas is the 83rd-ranked player in the Class of 2026. He’s also the 33rd-ranked small forward in the class and the 13th-ranked player from the state of Florida.
LSU was 1 of just 2 SEC teams to not make the NCAA Tournament this past season. The Tigers struggled to a 14-18 overall record and a 3-15 mark in the SEC in 2024-25, but LSU will feature an almost entirely new team with 11 new players this coming season. And next season’s team just got another boost with Thomas’s commitment.
