MAC MCCLUNG IS REPORTEDLY BACK WITH THE CHICAGO BULLS

The Chicago Bulls have signed one of the NBA’s highest flyers.

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, fan-favorite Mac McClung has signed a deal to return to the Windy City. The 26-year-old guard has spent the past two seasons with the Orlando Magic’s G League affiliate, appearing in a combined 57 games. In each of those two seasons, McClung averaged upwards of 25.0 points and roughly 6.0 assists.

McClung has appeared in only six career NBA games, but the NBA has taken full advantage of his star power. While with the 76ers organization in 2023, the league invited McClung to compete in the 2023 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. The guard would go on to claim the crown, only to win in each of the next two seasons. McClung became only the second player in league history to win the contest three times, joining Nate Robinson.

Mac McClung Rejoins the Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls are familiar with what Mac McClung has to offer. Arturas Karnisovas and Company signed the former Georgetown standout to back-to-back 10-day contracts during the 2021-22 season. McClung would go on to appear in one regular-season game and one Windy City Bulls game. A handful of weeks later, he found himself back with the South Bay Lakers, where he went on to win the NBA G League Rookie of the Year Award.

McClung was also named the G League MVP in 2024 after his initial season with the Osceola Magic. Nevertheless, his undersized frame and turnover troubles have kept him from finding a home on a full-time NBA roster. Can he finally find a way to change that during his second stint in Chicago? It won’t be easy.

To be clear, the Bulls currently have a full 15 guaranteed contracts and all three of their two-way spots occupied. This means that McClung almost surely inked an Exhibit-10 contract, which will incentivize him to join the Windy City Bulls of the G League upon being waived. The Bulls have done this with a handful of players over the last couple of weeks, including former lottery pick Kevin Knox.

Whether it’s at the Advocate Center or NOW Arena, however, McClung will surely get people out of their seats. I mean … can you imagine Yuki Kawamura alley-oops to Mac!? Hoffman Estates is about to be bumpin!
