The Battles continue on The Voice with Season 28 having a twist in that the 12 artists from each team chose who they are paired up with rather than coaches Niall Horan, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg or Michael Bublé making that decision. That said, the coaches do have the final word on who stays on their team and who is eliminated.
Parade has this sneak peek at Monday night’s Team Niall Battle between Aiden Ross and Ava Nat, who give an emotional performance of Niall’s “What a Time.”

“You know what?” Reba said when they finished, “You guys make a great duet. Your voices blend so well together. If it doesn’t work out individually, you might think about that. I thought it was a wonderful performance. Loved the song. Great choice on that.”
Then Snoop asks Niall, “It’s one of your songs, right?”
When Niall says yes, Snoop adds, “You’re cheating, man. You ain’t supposed to be giving them songs like that.”
Reba continues, “I couldn’t pick either one of them, so I say, pick both of them.”
Then it’s Michael’s turn to critique. He says, “Aiden, you have such a beautiful voice, and I just love watching you go into your falsetto. Ava, there’s such a sweetness and richness in your tone. This is a tough one. For me, it’s Aiden. The falsetto kind of melted me. Congratulations to both of you, and thank you for being so great.”

Then we’re back to Snoop: “I’m witnessing teenage love, the way y’all are holding hands, the way y’all sung to each other, this is beautiful, man. I kind of want to shed a tear behind this record. I actually wanted both of y’all on my team. I turned my chair for y’all so I know what you can do solo. But to see you guys come together in this duet, and for it to leave an impression on my heart…"
"I’m thinking about doing some things," he continues. "But I ain’t going to say what I’m doing until he do what he do. So, when he finished with what he doing, I may talk about what I’m doing. But you guys were amazing.”
Then it was time for their coach’s assessment, and Niall said, “That was just beautiful. It was everything I wanted it to be and 20 times more. The thing that was making me think who would win this Battle would be who could get the emotion across. And that’s why I picked this song. You guys sounded so good together. You know, I don’t like this part. This is my least favorite part of this show because saying goodbye to people you’ve effectively just met is not an easy task.”
