Every episode of The Great British Baking Show 2025 starts with so much excitement and hope—anything can happen, right? Frontrunners can lose steam, and underdogs can gain some newfound edge. But either way, someone has to leave the baking tent, and that never feels good, especially this far along in the competition.
As per usual, judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood did not hold back with their challenges for the contestants, making relatively ordinary tasks that much harder for the competition. And our loveable hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding are always there to lend a funny comment or condolence. So, let's dive into this week's episode, and who was sadly sent home from the tent.

Who went home from The Great British Baking Show 2025 this week?
Unfortunately it was Lesley, a 59-year-old hairdresser, who went home during Meringue Week. The contestant hails from Kent, a southeastern county in England, and has been baking since she was just 10 years old.
Upon her elimination, Lesley did an interview with BBC Radio Kent where she told them: "The highlight was meeting judge Paul, also from Kent, and all the other bakers, and everything that I've learned about myself and baking."

Meringue Week was an amazing time for Toby, the 29-year-old business development executive from Warwickshire, England. He hadn't yet won Star Baker, so getting the top honor this week was a big deal.
This also puts another break in Jasmine's winning streak. She's secured the Star Baker crown a total of three times so far this season, so it's nice to see a new face get recognized.
What were the challenges this week on The Great British Baking Show 2025?
Given that it was Meringue Week, there was a lot of meringue happening. Not super familiar with it? Meringue is that light, fluffy, sweet stuff made by whipping egg whites and sugar together until they form soft or stiff peaks. It's basically sugar and air held together by proteins from the egg whites.
For the Signature challenge (aka, the first contest of the episode), the bakers had to create a tray filled with mini meringue tarts. Next up was the Technical challenge, where they were asked to make meringue-based souffles (truthfully, that sounded darn near impossible). Then, the Showstopper challenge, which is always the flashiest of all tasks, saw them creating meringue ice cream cakes.
Who’s left on The Great British Baking Show 2025?
And then there were five. With Lesley out of the running, there's just the Fab 5 left to compete in the intense baking contest. This is when things get really chaotic and uncertain for the remaining contestants. One slip-up can cost them the big prize, and that's truly heartbreaking. The bakers still left in the competition include:
