Captain Alyssa Healy led from the front once again as she scored her second successive century in the tournament. Just four days after her monumental 142-run knock against India, Healy smashed an unbeaten 113 off just 77 balls as Australia chased down the target of 199 runs in just 24.5 overs at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vishakhapatnam.
Healy's stunning knock was studded with 20 fours. Along with Healy, the other opener, Phoebe Litchfield, impressed with the bat as well. Australia restricts Bangladesh to a modest total:
Earlier in the match, Australia restricted Bangladesh to 198/9 in the allotted 50 overs. Leg-spinner Alan King was almost unplayable as she bowled four maidens and conceded only 18 runs in her 10 overs while also picking up two wickets. King was adjudged the Player of the Match for her brilliant bowling display.
Bangladesh were off to a decent start and were on 73/1 at one stage before opener Rubya Haider's dismissal derailed their innings. From that stage, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. While wickets were falling regularly from one end, Sobhana Mostary held firm from the other and scored an unbeaten 66 to take her team to a respectable total.
Bangladesh have now lost four matches in a row in the ongoing World Cup. With a solitary win from five games, they are languishing in sixth spot in the points table.
