Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has deployed several senior leaders and prominent functionaries to spearhead the party’s campaign for the ensuing Nuapada bye-election.
According to the office order given by BJD President Naveen Patnaik, the BJD has assigned leaders to different blocks and urban local bodies (ULBs) of Nuapada district to ensure coordinated and intensive campaign management.
For the Nuapada Block, key leaders such as Niranjan Pujari, Sanjay Das Burma, Arun Sahoo, Pratap Jena, Captain Dibyashankar Mishra, Pritiranjan Gharai, Pritiranjan Gharai, Dhruba Sahoo, Manohar Randhari, Pradip Disari, Tusharkanti Behera, Braja Kishore Pradhan, Ramesh Chandra Behera, Sarada Prasanna Jena, Romancha Ranjan Biswal, Sudarsan Haripal, Prasanta Kumar Behera, Devi Ranjan Tripathy and Nihar Ranjan Behera have been entrusted with the responsibility of leading campaign operations.
For the Nuapada NAC, notable leaders including Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Sarada Prasad Nayak, Debesh Acharya, Manorama Mohanty, Deepali Das, Ayub Khan, Rita Sahu, and Sworup Das have been deployed.
For Komna Block, prominent leaders such as Pranab Prakash Das, Pratap Deb, Adhiraj Panigrahi, Pushpendra Singh Deo, Jogesh Singh, Rabi Nanda, Pradip Majhi, Nalinikanta Pradhan, Byomakesh Ray, Sushanta Kumar Rout, Subhasish Khuntia, Jagannath Saraka, Saroj Meher, Biswaranjan Mallick, Avinash Samal, Iswar Panigrahi, Rohit Joseph Tirkey
and Umakanta Samantaray will campaign for the party.
Similarly, in Khariar Road NAC, leaders such as Ranendra Pratap Swain, Bikram Panda, Kalikesh Narayan Singhdeo, Pradyumna Tripathy, Souvic Biswal, Goutam Buddha Das, Prasant Muduli, and Rudra Prasad Maharathy will lead campaign initiatives.
The order stated that the deployment comes into force with immediate effect, marking the formal beginning of BJD’s full-scale election campaign in Nuapada.
The BJD has nominated former Minister Snehangini Chhuria as its candidate, aiming to consolidate its organizational strength and reconnect with voters across the constituency.
The bye-election was necessitated by the untimely demise of veteran BJD MLA and former Minister Rajendra Dholakia in September 2025. Polling is set for November 11, and vote counting is scheduled for November 14.
