The Wednesday, October 15 episode of The Golden Bachelor was hard to watch at the end. There were really four women deserving of roses, but only three were handed out. It was a total bummer. But let's rewind...
At the top of the show, Peg revealed she can ride a freakin' unicycle. Bomb tech, firefighter, unicycle rider…what can't Peg do?! Seriously, that is very impressive.
Meanwhile, Carol was upset she hadn't had a one-on-one date yet, especially after host Jesse Palmer told the women that only three of them would move on to Hometown Dates next week.

Peg, Debbie, Cheryl, Nicolle and Carol got the group date, which meant that Carol would be the only woman without a one-on-one date. She (rightly) was worried about the implications of that.
The date was a very spiritual, cool experience at Butterfly Mountain with a shaman named Dani. They worked on "letting go" of negative emotions — feeling unworthy, feeling hopeless, Mel's was friction. As the women said and I agreed, it's cool that Mel Owens is into this kind of thing, especially for a man of his generation.
The date allowed for each woman to have a little bit of alone time with Mel.
While Peg got her bit of one-on-one time, Nicolle sat with the other women, who were all nervous about getting cut before hometowns, and then Nicolle said in a talking-head interview, "I'm feeling a little more confident because I'm picking up on some insecure energy and some nervous energy. I'm just really sensitive to negative energy, but I know that that will be filtered out soon with the next Rose Ceremony."

I wrote this when I got to that part — "Let's hope that's ironic!" I trust The Bachelor editors to have put that in there for a reason, so here's hoping Nicolle gets cut.
Everyone seemed to have a great time, but since no rose was given out, it was hard to tell who was safe and who might have been in danger of going home.
Interestingly, however, Mel seemed to start to figure out that Nicolle might not be there for love because her answer about the next five years of her life was all about monetizing her Instagram and authoring a plant-based cookbook. She also wanted a kiss "for the camera."
Meanwhile, with Carol, she had to confess to Mel that she's having doubts about staying on the show because they haven't spent that much time alone together, and not getting the one-on-one made her think perhaps this isn't the right thing for her. And then Carol left!

We knew someone was going to leave based on the previews, but I would not have predicted it was Carol. Cheryl saw Carol leave and ran to tell the other women. They were sad to see her leave because they liked her, but they've got to be feeling better about their chances.
Also, does this mean Carol might be the next Golden Bachelorette? I wouldn't be mad about that, though I would also watch Cheryl, Peg or Cindy.
The One-on-One Date
The "magical" one-on-one date went to Cindy, who was in tears about finally getting a one-on-one. The date was a Texas-y horseback riding adventure, and Cindy was super excited, being from Texas.
"We don't ride too many horses in Detroit. I've been told I've done it one time," said Mel, detailing how he rode a pony at a fair once. Hahaha.

But afterward, Cindy got really vulnerable about growing up in a terrible home situation and then marrying someone who also turned out to be awful, but they had three kids together and she was kind of trapped. It's not an unfamiliar story for a lot of women.
Great date, Cindy was definitely going to get one of the roses.
Who Went Home During the Rose Ceremony on The Golden Bachelor Season 2, Episode 4?
My prediction was that Cindy, Cheryl and Peg would get roses and Debbie and Nicolle would be sent home. Unfortunately, I was wrong about Cheryl. The roses went to Cindy, Peg and Debbie. Darn. Cheryl going home is a huge loss, I'm so bummed. Everyone was absolutely distraught over Cheryl not getting a rose.

In typical gross Nicolle fashion, her parting shot was, "When it doesn't work out with the one you pick, 'cause it probably won't, you call me. I mean that." In the SUV, she also said that maybe this means the universe is going to manifest that she's chosen for the Golden Bachelorette season 2. Do you think she'd be a good lead? Vote now in our poll!
