Lin-Manuel Miranda is known for creating some of Broadway’s most influential hit musicals, including Hamilton and In the Heights. The writer, creator, and star of both musicals, Miranda is also an avid theatergoer known for his support of other people’s work and shows.
The 45-year-old New York native just might be the most influential person on Broadway right now, short of the reigning New York Times theatre critic. But unlike a critic, an endorsement from Miranda usually comes with a call to go see whatever play or musical he's just watched. Such is the case with Miranda’s latest New York theatre “favorite,” a Parent Trap parody called Ginger Twinsies currently in production Off-Broadway.
Speaking on a recent panel, Miranda shared a resounding endorsement of the Parent Trap parody, calling it “unhinged” and encouraging theatre-goers to catch the Off-Broadway show as soon as possible.

The ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Connection
Lin-Manuel Miranda isn’t the only Hollywood luminary singing the praises of Ginger Twinsies.Parent Trap star Elaine Hendrix, who is currently a contestant on ABC’s reality competition series Dancing With the Stars, is one of the Off-Broadway show’s producers.
The cast recently called on audience members to vote for the Parent Trap actress to help keep her on the show.

Hendrix, who played Meredith Blake in the 1998 film, has kept her connection to the movie alive as the producer of the Kevin Zak-written parody.
