Jennifer Lopez Has Surprisingly Candid Response When Asked If Shes Truly Been Loved

Jennifer Lopez hasn't always been lucky in love, and she shared a surprisingly candid response when asked if she believes she's ever "truly been loved."

While appearing on the Wednesday, October 15, episode SiriusXM's Howard Stern Show, Lopez, 56, didn't hold back while discussing love and relationships.

"Do you think you've truly been loved?" Stern, 71, asked Lopez, who took a moment to think before she responded, "No."

While she doesn't feel like she's truly been loved, Lopez insisted that she's had the experience of truly loving someone else.

"What I learned, it's not that I'm not lovable — it's that they're not capable. … They don't have it in them," she said of her past romantic partners. "And they gave me what they had. They gave me all of it, every time. All the rings, all the things I could ever want. The houses, the rings, the marriage. All of it. But…."

The Wedding Planner actress went on to admit that one of the issues in her past relationships was that she "didn't love myself" at the time.

Lopez has been married and divorced four times, with her most recent marriage being to Ben Affleck from 2022 until their divorce was finalized in 2025. Meanwhile, she was married to Ojani Noa from 1997 until 1998 and Chris Judd from 2001 until 2003.

Additionally, Lopez was married to ex-husband Marc Anthony from 2004 until 2014. The former couple share 17-year-old twins Max and Emme.

"When I got divorced this last time, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Because it really made me journey into — I mean, I had a religious coach, I had a therapist, a couple's therapist, an individual therapist, I had a coach to understand addiction," she said. "I had everything. I was like, 'I'm gonna f--kin' figure this s--t out if it kills me.' "

Lopez said she eventually came to understand that the "core of the thing is you — it's nobody else."

"Now I'm able to sit here in a much more self-assured, self-aware way of the things that have happened to me, whether my mother, my father, in my own life, how I learned to love, how I felt neglected — all the things that are in your head as a person — and know who I am and just really appreciate that person," she said. "[I] feel really comfortable and good in being myself, all the good parts and all the kind of complicated things."

After Stern asked if she hasn't "had that with someone," Lopez said she's only had "glimpses" of it. "I wish that for you," he told her, to which she thanked him.

While Lopez and Affleck, 53, are no longer romantically involved, they appear to be on good terms. In fact, he supported her at the premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman in New York City on October 6. While Lopez stars in and produced the film, Affleck served as an executive producer.
