While building anticipation for the playoffs, the NCAA Division I FCS selection committee has released the first of two in-season Top 10 rankings, giving insight into which teams are in contention for eight first-round byes.
That defending national champion North Dakota State (6-0) was No. 1 and South Dakota State (6-0) No. 2 in the rankings was expected – the intrigue came with the rest of the order.
Six weeks remain in the regular season. The playoff committee will release another Top 10 on Nov. 5; the actual pairings will be announced on Nov. 23.
